Volunteering with The Boys’ Brigade

31st May 2017

The Boys’ Brigade is exploring new and ambitious ways of recruiting volunteer leaders across London and the South East!

Over the coming months, the BB is hoping to attract local people with a passion or hobby that they would like to share with children and young people, whether that be a gifted musician, a passionate cook/baker, a sports and fitness fanatic or somebody who simply enjoys reading stories.

John Myers, BB Development Worker for London and the South East said The Boys’ Brigade and Girls’ Association has a real vision for this area and is keen to get as many children, young people, and families involved as possible. We would love to see as many children and young people as possible accessing our groups. We rely on our amazing volunteers to run the local groups and we are appealing to people of all ages and from all walks of life to help our children and young people to have fun and try new things. We believe that if a person is excited and enthusiastic about a hobby or interest and they would love to share that then they will do that with immense passion which will surely reflect on our children and young people in a positive way”.

During 2015/16, the BB recruited 936 new leaders in total, most of which are now working in the 28 new groups set up with support from Youth United.

To further expand their offer to young people in London and the South East, the BB would love to hear from interested volunteers from 18 years upwards, who can give a commitment – whether that be weekly, monthly or on a rota basis to suit individual needs. Training is provided, so it is also a great opportunity for somebody interested in obtaining children’s or youth work experience, or maybe even a parent who would like to share their interests.

The new volunteer roles are soon to be available online through the website or via Further information can also be obtained by contacting John at
