1st Battersea The Boys’ Brigade and Girls’ Association visited the Charleston House Care Home for people with elderly care needs, dementia, learning disability, mental health conditions and physical disabilities. The young people took time to speak with the residents, and listen to some of their real life stories from the past. They helped serve lunch to the residents, explained about The Boys’ Brigade and Girls’ Association unit that they run, and supported residents in activities such as music and gardening.
The group worked together to look after the residents in the care home and carry out the roles and responsibilities they were given. They worked effectively, and were highly commended by the care home staff.
In turn, the residents were able to get a sense of some of the good work happening in their community in regards to young people delivering social action. Both the young people and residents benefited from the visit and have already arranged other visits in the future.
