1st Huncote n:vestigate group is Youth United’s youngest Social Action Award winner. Aged between 4 and 9, the children were involved in a range of social action such as participating in a games night, where they donated their subscription money to sponsor the mother of one of the girls in the group who was having her hair cut off to raise money for ‘Little Princess Trust’, helping deliver a fundraising event for a hospice charity and donating Easter Eggs to the local food bank.
All these projects provided the members with an opportunity to support their community and show they cared. Children explored and demonstrated the importance of giving to others, while their activities brought several generations together.
Through taking interest in a range of causes, the children have been able to see social action as an important aspect of life and something that is worth committing their time and energy to. The children’s enthusiasm to participate showed how they have developed their passions for helping other people and supporting both those within the local community and further afield. 1st Huncote n:vestigate unit is proof that age is not a barrier to making a difference.
