For nearly a century and a half, young people in the UK have joined Youth United organisations – with substantial benefits for both the young person and their community.
In 2009 His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, now our Patron, thought that this benefit could be magnified if the organisations worked together. As a result, he brought together the heads of many of these organisations to discuss a new way of collaborative working. From that meeting, Youth United was established, and continues with the support of our Patron today.
Most recently The Prince of Wales reaffirmed his support for Youth United by saying:
“Following my own experiences as a volunteer coastguard and in my school cadet unit, I have long been convinced of the hugely positive impact of uniformed groups on the lives of young people. As Patron and Founder of Youth United, I could not be more thrilled to see so many young people from diverse communities across the U.K. joining newly established uniformed groups. I will continue wholeheartedly to support Youth United as it pursues its vision of giving every young person in our country the opportunity to join a voluntary youth organization.” -HRH The Prince of Wales
